Sanjay Banga

Mr. Sanjay Banga heads the Transmission and Distribution (T & D) in Tata Power. Before this, he was Chief Executive Officer of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a Public-Private Partnership (JV) of TATA Power and Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. He was part of core team who transformed ailing utility with 53% loss level to a benchmark utility in India.

Mr. Banga, with more than three decades of experience in power generation, transmission and distribution business, brings with him an expertise in the power sector, covering areas of Operational Technologies, Project Management, Utility Business process re-engineering, and Regulatory Environment. The learning he gathered through associations with leading public and private sector power  utilities in India equips him very well to tackle the enormous challenges of the electricity distribution business in India and abroad.

Mr. Banga started his career with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) as an Engineer Trainee and was involved in the Operation & Commissioning of Super Thermal Power Projects (1989 to 1995). Before joining Tata Power group , he worked with Reliance Energy (earlier known as BSES Ltd) from 1996 to 2003, where he was associated with the entire spectrum of generation activities covering full aspects of Operations and Engineering of  generation projects.

Mr. Banga is an alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, and He has done his MBA from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi. He has completed the Senior Executive Leadership Program from the Harvard Business School. He is a director on board of Tata Projects Limited (TPL). Tata Power trading corporation Limited (TPTCL), Power link transmission limited, Tata Power Delhi distribution limited (TPDDL), Tata Power central Orissa distribution limited (TPCODL ). Mr. Banga is an avid reader and enjoys playing Tennis and Cricket.
