Brent Baker is the Associate General Manager of Customer Operations and Communications for City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri and is responsible for the customer-focused strategy, operations, and advanced metering infrastructure initiatives. Prior to joining City Utilities in May of 2020, Mr. Baker was National Vice President of Customer Experience for Liberty Utilities and oversaw the Customer Experience teams in thirteen States and two Provinces the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Baker also lead the Innovations Team for Liberty Utilities, which was responsible for developing initiatives for the “Utility of The Future”, including Electric Vehicles, MicroGrids, Solar, Storage and Smart Cities among others.

He began his career at Empire District in 2002. Positions he has held include Senior Structural Engineer, Manager of Construction Design, Director of Customer Service, and Vice President of Customer Service, Transmission and Engineering. Mr. Baker, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in Missouri.

Mr. Baker currently serves on the executive committee of the board of the Hawthorn Foundation in Missouri, responsible for statewide business recruitment, retention, and development. He previously served as Chair of the Joplin Regional Partnership, was on the board of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce, and the Neosho Area Business and Industrial Foundation. He also previously served as a board member of Children’s Haven of Southwest Missouri, the past president and state director for the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Southwest Chapter, and as the Chair of the Young Professionals Network of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce.
